I’m looking for willing participants who would be interested in being interviewed for a Black friendship project centering Black people of marginalized genders and sexualities. The interviews generally take 1-hour and can be held virtually on a Zoom (my preference) or another platform (your preference). Most currently, I’ve used the interview transcripts to write and compile poems on the power of friendship into a chapbook manuscript (soon to be full-length collection) titled If It Must Be A Box We Come Out Of, Let the Box Be An Accordion.
So far, the manuscript has been both longlisted for the 2023 Palette Poetry Chapbook Prize and named one of two runner-ups for the 2024 Center for Book Arts Chapbook Competition. If you are interested and/or know someone who might be interested, reach out to me through the CONTACT page or @writesumdinsightful (also found in the Instagram icon in the top left corner of the page).
